The Walled Kitchen Garden
Front Yard Refresh
Outdoor Living
A productive garden composed like a room: brick edges, gravel paths, espalier fruit, herbs, and raised beds that hold their shape through every season.

THE BRIEF
Make productivity feel composed, not utilitarian.
The owners wanted a working kitchen garden that could supply the house from early spring into late autumn without losing the calm geometry of the wider landscape. The design had to improve access, organise harvesting, and sit naturally against the age and texture of the property.
THE RESPONSE
A simple framework for a garden that changes every week.
CHALLENGE / RESULT
Heavy soil and a long exposed boundary made the original plot difficult to work. Raised beds improved drainage, the espalier line created shelter, and broad gravel paths made the garden usable in wet weather. The result is a productive room that feels settled from the house and remains clear even at the height of the growing season.
CLIENT NOTE
The garden feels purposeful without ever feeling rigid. We use it every day, and it still has the quietness we hoped for.

THE OUTCOME
garden became a peaceful sanctuary for the homeowners, offering a quiet retreat from the busy city life. The minimalist design created a calming environment that allowed the family to relax and meditate in their own private oasis.
